As wellness continues to gains acceptance
in the workplace, what makes one wellness program prove to be better
than another? Several recognition programs exist that serve to validate
and recognize award winning wellness programs. Each organization
below has established standards or criteria to be met in order to
earn their respective award in order to be considered "best-in-class"
in workplace wellness.

Worksite
Health Award Program
In 1994, the Greater
Providence Chamber of Commerce and BCBSRI
established the Worksite Health Award recognition program. Awarded
each spring, the award program recognized organizations of all sizes
who have begun to implement effective programs for their employees.

WELCOA's
Well Workplace Award
Here's how WELCOA award process works:
The Well
Workplace Initiative is not a competition whereby only a small number
of companies can achieve an award, rather it is a recognition project
where an award can be achieved by any company that meets the standards
set forth by our organization.
Step
#1: Become a WELCOA Member
Step #2: Completion of the WELCOA Well Workplace Checklist
Step #3: Implement the Well Workplace Model
Step #4: Formal Completion of the Well Workplace Application
Step #6: Application Review by the Wellness Councils
of America

C. Everett Koop Health Awards
Here's how the Koop award works:
The C. Everett
Koop Health Project seeks to recognize programs that improve health
by reducing health risks, reduce medical care costs, and can document
effectiveness of these goals. Eligible programs can be based at
worksite, community, health provider groups, insurance, government,
